I am a visual artist currently residing in Shanghai, China, where I teach art at a local school and work as a freelance artist and art instructor. Art has defined me since my earliest days. I was always magnetized by the very process of creation. Nothing made me happier than being left alone and in peace with my art supplies so I could create my own world. This obsession led me to my early childhood education in art school, where I was taught the basics of art, and got exposed to various techniques from batik to sculpture. My artistic path continued with a bachelor’s degree in architecture and design from the ISTU university in Irkutsk, Russia, where I focused on academic drawing, painting, history of art and design, sculpture, composition and paper modeling. Continuing my artistic self - discovery as well as formal education is especially important for my journey as an artist. I am currently pursuing my online master in illustration from Falmouth University. This course has already massively pushed my career and I am striving to engage in deep research prior to every new art practice as well as strengthening my brand with each new project. I believe that my power is to find inspiration in learning and exploring the world.
I think it is crucial to question yourself and set clear directions while creating. Otherwise your art turns into an endless experiment with no final point. When I asked myself what is important to me, the answer was: social issues, self discovery and finding the balance between these two directions looking in the outer and my inner world. The closest social problem that touches me to my core is gender-based violence, having survived domestic violence myself. I want to contribute to the fight of various women's organizations and support sisterhood not only by drawing attention to these problems with my art, but also by donating a part of my profit from the “Women for Women” and “Body Passion” series.
With my other series I explore human nature through my own artistic prism. Sometimes I create because I am triggered by specific events or insights. Sometimes simply because I can't hold my creative energy at bay and have to let it manifest itself on canvas.
I feel delighted by the thought that my art can bring joy to people's lives and share a piece of my energy with them. Not only the process of creation itself, but also every customer and their feedback make me feel alive. I am open to your questions and will be glad to create art for you.
